AntiVirus software can vary in terms of its effect on both data and software applications. Below, we describe 'Important Exclusions', which are areas of the TeamHeadquarters database that must be excluded from virus scans. At the other extreme, we have also identified the 'maximum' performance option, which involves scanning an isolated area of the database. Between these extremes, there may be cases where particular AntiVirus products can impede performance or even corrupt the TeamHeadquarters database (based on your particular AntiVirus solution and its configuration). Entry Software strongly recommends that a database backup be run and copied to another computer before changing your AntiVirus configuration. This will help to ensure recoverability in the event of database corruption. If you have any questions, please follow up directly with the Entry Software Support Team. |
Due to the continuous indexing of TeamHeadquarters database files and the deep hierarchical structure of TeamHeadquarters directories, there are three TeamHeadquarters directories that must be excluded from all virus scans (this means Scheduled scans and File System Real-time scans):
<installdrive>\Thq\Database\FullTextIndex
<installdrive>\Thq\Database\Indexes
<installdrive>\Thq\Database\Objects
These directories contain only files that were created by TeamHeadquarters.
Users of TeamHeadquarters can upload files to a variety of places in the database. These files can all be virus-scanned through a real-time scan on 'writes' in
<installdrive>\Thq\Database\Upload
For maximum performance, restrict your antivirus scan as indicated.
With Norton AntiVirus, make sure Check file for exclusion before scanning is checked. Otherwise, Norton still scans the file but does not report the results.
