Release: TeamHeadquarters version 6.4
Primary focus: Project Management
The TeamHeadquarters Gantt chart tool has been completely re-built for this release to speed up the process of creating, maintaining, and adjusting project schedules.
The left-side task tree was replaced with an editable grid interface, allowing direct input of new tasks and editing of existing tasks.
The right-side Gantt chart uses standard TeamHeadquarters color representations for work that is late/overdue ( red ), less than 10% overdue (yellow), on-track (green), and future (gray).
The right-side Gantt chart now supports drag-and-drop editing of task plans, predecessors, and actuals.
Multiple projects can be viewed and edited at the same time.
Projects and their tasks can now be rescheduled by changing the project start date on either the Gantt Chart or project edit screen, with an option to shift all tasks by the same number of business days.
The Project and Task Exceptions report shows a list of projects and tasks that are overdue, or scheduled to start but unassigned.
The Remaining Allocation Report looks like the Resource Allocation Report, but shows task allocations based on allocated time minus time sheet charges.
TeamHeadquarters information can now be copied and pasted, making it faster to create new projects and easier to implement templates for standard types of plans.
Ticket lists (My Tickets, Queues, and Ticket Monitor) now have an optional column setting for Customer Department.
Queues and Ticket Monitor now allow for retrieval of up to 2000 tickets in a single view.
The ticket edit function now offers an expanded editing pane for Initial Description, Resolution, and Comments.
The Enterprise Project Portfolio reporting tool is now set to show reports based on Project Data by default, while allowing selection of Management Report data where appropriate.
The Management Report properties page and the Project Commentary Report now show the name of the user who last modified that Management Report.
This release has been verified for Windows 7 compatibility.
Release: TeamHeadquarters version 6.1 - 6.3
Primary focus: Versions 6.1 through 6.3 of TeamHeadquarters are primarily technical releases to support evolutions within the family of TeamHeadquarters Software Development Kits.
Cosmetic Changes were made to the Resource Allocation report when run as a what-if scenario from the Task Edit page. The function is invoked by clicking on "Check Resource Availability" at the bottom of the Task Roster, and the current task will be highlighted in Yellow in the expanding details section of the resultant report.
Automatic Recalculation of project dates is now optional. A checkbox is available on the Task Edit page at the bottom, and on the Project Edit page at the bottom in the Options section. The option is turned on by default.
When this box is checked, Auto-Recalc is on. It means that task start and end dates for your entire project will be automatically re-calculated every time you create, save, move, or delete a task. When this box is not checked, schedule recalculation will not happen automatically. You will have to invoke the "Recalculate Schedule" function available from the "Project" and "Tasks" right click menus.
If Auto Recalc is off, this is indicated in the top right section of the Gantt Chart.
Release: TeamHeadquarters version 6.0
Primary focus: SQL 2005 Database
TeamHeadquarters now runs on Microsoft's SQL 2005 database (Workgroup, Standard, or Enterprise), and many of the reports use SQL Reporting Services.
The access security model in TeamHeadquarters has been re-worked to improve both flexibility and manageability.
Microsoft's Active Directory has been significantly unbundled from TeamHeadquarters. Domains, Organizational Units, and Users are no longer related to Active Directory in any way. Authentication using Active Directory is now optional (with Windows User accounts being the other option).
In previous versions, the
Contacts
folder could be configured to access either Active Directory or the built-in
TeamHeadquarters Contacts database. In
Version 6, there are two possibilities:
If you are using TeamHeadquarters contacts, there will
be a single contacts folder (
THQ
Contacts).
If you are using Active Directory Contacts, there will
be two contacts folders.
Active Directory Contacts will behave exactly like your
previous contact folder and will be the source of the customers selected
in Tickets and Projects.
THQ Contacts
will have a copy of those
contacts from Active Directory who have been previously linked with Tickets
and Projects.
The
THQ Contacts folder will also contain a
record for each of your TeamHeadquarters users, so that their contact
information can now be maintained without requiring administrator access
to Active Directory.
The management of user licenses is now handled within the Contacts area.
The TeamHeadquarters Project Calendar has been removed from version 6.
This feature was removed from some reports in version 6.
Project Roster management (formerly called "Invite/Manage Members") has been moved into the Project Edit area. Also, any number of users can be labelled 'Sponsors', which gives them similar access rights as the Project Managers.
Predecessors are now maintained with Task Edit.
